We started a new stage actively collaborating with the stores Baby Experience; and thanks to that ... We have it! As you know, Bugaboo has entered the market of ultra compact with the new Bugaboo Ant. Until now, his lightest stroller was the Bugaboo Bee, the perfect urban compact; but after listening to the consumer for a long time and seeing what other brands offer, they have landed with a ultra lightweight and compact stroller He wants to position himself among the best in his sector. We must not forget that Bugaboo has always been considered a premium or high-end brand; it will be interesting to see how he stands in the comparison of Bugaboo Ant with Babyzen Yoyo +, which you can already see here, so far the pioneer and king in the ultra light market in a similar price range.
Unpack and assemble the Bugaboo Ant
In some stores and from the Bugaboo website, Ant will be available in about 3 weeks.
What will come to us if we buy this ultra lightweight and compact stroller?
As you can see, we have a couple of boxes:
- In the first comes the base that would be: chassis (aluminum or black, depending on which you choose), chair structure with the shopping basket, rods and hood clamps, front and rear wheels
- In the second comes the style pack: chair cover, hood, wheels and side panels.
Unlike other strollers, Bugaboo Ant comes without a rain bubble included. Bugaboo sells it to us as an option with a price of € 39.95. Although we would have greatly appreciated a rain plastic as in the rest of his strollers, Bugaboo Ant has made the high quality rain plastic; so, at least, the price is justified, since these types of rain protectors are not only plastic, they have a waterproof textile that adapts better to the stroller.
Bugaboo website shows all the features and you can see it here, but the configurator option does not exist yet.
Bugaboo Ant Prices
The cheapest comes out for about € 499 and the most expensive € 579, not counting the rain plastic. The black chassis is more expensive than the aluminum one; and in terms of fabrics, the extensible hoods can be basic in steel blue, neon red or black; or premium, in gray or melange pink - the latter is a new color that they have added. The main difference between the basic and the premium, apart from the color, is that the Premium has a window and the basic does not. To keep in mind that depending on the hood color we want, the cover, the tires and the side panels will be a predefined color, it is what they call "Pack Style".
So in broad strokes we tell you its main characteristics according to official data, we will see in the next post if they resemble reality:
- 7.2 kg full weight
- Measures folded 55 x 38 x 23 cm, so it serves as hand luggage to get it into the cabin of an airplane
- It can carry a small up to 22 kg
- It folds in one piece and can be transported in trolley modelike a suitcase
- The chair is reversible (Yes! The Bugaboo Ant is the first ultra-compact reversible!) And reclining in 5 positions
- The front basket holds about 5 kg, and the rear basket about 3 kg, a total of 8 kg; not bad for such a light stroller
- The handlebar is height adjustable in two positions
- The hood is extensible, and in the case of the Premium it has a window with ventilation to see the little one
- It has front and center wheel suspension
Compact folding stroller
We have been able to verify that this lightweight and ultra-compact stroller has a very clean folding, and we liked the trolley position where the 3 kg basket is still accessible.
Adjustable back that adapts to the baby
Also the adjustable backrest has seemed very good option, although its lower position makes the stroller look like a toy.
Reversible seat in an ultra light chair
That Bugaboo Ant sea chair reversible We thought it was great, although not so much the maximum reclined in the position facing outwards; This will be a point that we will value in the comparison of Ant vs Yoyo +.
Will Bugaboo Ant be the best stroller to travel?
The ultralight market is booming precisely because our rhythm of life creates the need for strollers that increasingly weigh and occupy less. There are numerous brands that already have this type of lightweight strollers: Babyzen, UPPA baby, Inglesina, Jané, Baby Monsters ... Bugaboo has waited to listen to the consumer, to see the deficiencies that exist in the market; and they have created a very compact folding stroller, which weighs little, which is very easy to carry in the suitcase mode when we do not use it and which also has a reversible chair; something that until now, no brand had covered.
Our pace of life creates the need for increasingly compact and lightweight strollers. Air travel is very different since we have ultralight in the market
We really want to try it more thoroughly, and of course, to start comparatives with other strollers in the market. In the next post, as we have already commented above, we will compare it with the Babyzen Yoyo +. We will take measurements, weight, volume they occupy, ergonomics of the seats, suspension tests, folding time ... Without a doubt, an exhaustive analysis of both. Will there be a clear winner?
